We can’t imagine going anywhere else! Initial review (2021) Olympic Mortgages to the rescue. We had been with a major bank for about 40 years, had several mortgages with them, and suddenly found them completely incapable of supporting us for our most recent mortgage. It should have been easy...we have stable income, good credit ratings, we’re looking to buy a smaller, less expensive home. Pretty low risk profile. Nonetheless, after 10 days, they still hadn’t approved us for a mortgage, and wanted to impose all kinds of conditions which we hadn’t previously seen. I worked with David and Kamal. They were knowledgeable, honest and prompt. The pre approval process was quick and they mentioned that I was eligible for their special rate at the time. Kamal was diligent and helpful. She would checkin about the overall home search and any questions I had that she could not immediately answer, she would call back and clarify. When It came to applying for the mortgage itself, not only did they keep their promise of getting me their special rate, they came in a little lower than was was promised. Over approval process itself took around 3-4 days,I suppose it helped that I had all the documentation in place before the application was processed. As potential new home buyers, we needed lots of advice and in many cases reassurance that we could afford a home and stay within our means. We were looking for a home in the very tight and competitive market in Victoria, BC with a very limited budget compared to what homes were selling at. For nearly a year and a half Olympic stood by us in support and affirmation that we would find a place. During that time we had a nearly weekly meeting with Roxanne who we would ask all levels of questions about mortgages and interest rates and steps for purchasing a home. In addition to these questions, we received timely responses to other questions regarding market trends, insurance, and legal aspects of purchasing a home. We feel that the amount of time and effort that they put in to our specific situation, really shows their commitment to assisting homebuyers new and old make confident decisions about home purchases and affordability. They also guided us in being realistic about our expectations. After all of the time they committed to us, we were able to make a home purchase that we are proud of with a low mortgage rate that we are able to manage. As interest rates rise across the country, adding a level of uncertainty, we believe that the rate we got at the time was very competitive and substantially better than many banks and other brokerages. From the very beginning, our home buying situation was quite complex - we were selling a property in another province and using the proceeds to fund our BC purchase, I was between jobs (so proving income to lender was challenging) and we were selling and buying on a tight timeline. From the start, Roxan was professional, detail oriented, very responsive (even after hours and on weekends), provided practical advice and worked so hard to find us the best deal possible. We so appreciated that she was straight with us and we trusted her completely. When disaster hit (i.e. the sale of our out of province property fell through twice, including a week before our BC property close date) - Roxan and David and their entire team worked incredibly hard to scramble together (what I thought was impossible) a last minute financing solution in time.
