Why Your Credit Score is Important

Having a good credit score is crucial when applying for a mortgage. Here are three simple tips to help you ensure your credit score stays top notch!

  1. Setup your credit card and cellphone bills on automatic payments each month. Paying at least the minimum payment on your credit cards will ensure you don’t have any late payments, which can be very detrimental to your score.
  2. Try to keep your credit card balances at no more than 70% of the authorized limit. For example, if your limit is $10,000, make sure to keep the balance under $7000 at all times.
  3. Pay off any collections immediately, and keep your receipts! If you have any collection on your credit bureau, pay it off! And remember to keep your receipts, as lenders may require further proof that you’ve paid the collections.
